The Roof Gardens
London, United Kingdom
Overview
The Kensington Roof Gardens is one of London's most remarkable hospitality assets, a 1.5-acre garden one hundred feet above Kensington High Street, originally opened in 1938 as the rooftop of the Derry & Toms department store and laid out by landscape architect Ralph Hancock across three themed gardens (Spanish, Tudor and English Woodland).
Appointed by Stephen Fitzpatrick of OVO Energy, Copper Beech led the venue's 2024 relaunch as a contemporary private members' club, returning a Grade-II-listed garden of scale and provenance to active membership use.
Embedded in the project since inception, Copper Beech delivered the operational, financial and membership foundations required for the relaunch. Matt Hobbs served as interim CEO for several years before recruiting and inducting the permanent appointment.
